PRACTICAL PURCHASING GUIDE
A decision guide for finding Lanaudière suppliers and choosing cultivars, quantities, formats and pollination partners.
PLANTING PLAN FIRST
The ranges overlap because cultivar scarcity, transport distance and your growing capacity can change the best choice.
Choose locally available 1–2 gallon potted plants. Convenience, visible vigour and easy transport matter more than the lowest unit price.
Compare pots, bare-root and young plants. Ask for group pricing and confirm that compatible pollination partners will actually be available together.
One-year bare-root plants or 0.5–1 L pots may reduce purchase cost. Price the irrigation, weed control and extra growing time they require.
Request comparable quotes for plug trays, 1 L pots and bare-root plants. Require the same cultivars, specifications, timing and replacement terms in every quote.
Start ideally 9–18 months before planting. Plan a primary supplier, a backup source and a clause prohibiting substitution without written approval.
| Format | Best fit | Main benefit | Cost or risk to add |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plug trays | Very large orders and on-farm nursery | Low purchase price and compact freight | Extra growing time, precise irrigation, losses and labour |
| Bare root | Prompt spring or fall planting | Efficient shipping and visible roots | Short planting window; roots must not dry out |
| 0.5–1 L pot | Small to medium commercial blocks | Useful balance of cost and establishment | Compare age, roots and height, not pot volume alone |
| 1–2 gal pot | Garden, replacements and small quantities | Developed plant that is easy to assess | Higher price and freight; possible circling roots |

These regional options cover small retail purchases, local pickup and larger professional orders. Their public pages were rechecked on October 6, 2026; call before travelling because 2027 cultivar inventory is not fully published.
Indicative placement by municipality, not to scale. Select a marker to find its supplier card, then use Google Maps for the exact destination.

The broader supplier pages were checked on October 6, 2026. No single Québec source was confirmed as carrying all 11 Camerise St-Gabriel cultivars. Use a main supplier for common cultivars and a targeted source for rare ones.
| Supplier | Best fit | Public information checked | Confirm before ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| VégétolabAlma, Québec | Commercial propagation and medium to large volumes | The professional store listed several haskaps from $4.92. The company documents plug trays, pots and, for some products, bare-root plants. It announced authorized Berries Unlimited propagation in 2017. | Exact format by cultivar, total and tray minimums, propagation rights, 2027 availability and contract-growing options. |
| Terra-BoréalQuébec | Small and medium online orders | The public category showed seven cultivars at $12 and invited buyers to contact the nursery for orders over 150 plants. | Inventory at ordering time, format, plant size, pickup or delivery and volume pricing. |
| Pépinière AncestraleQuébec | Retail orders and groups of 10, 30 or 100 plants | The page announced spring 2027, quantity tiers and Aurora from $10.95. | Final price for the selected cultivar, size, delivery date, fees and actual availability. |
| Pépinière Casse-NoisetteMaskinongé, Québec | Sourcing less common cultivars | The public collection included Blue Banana. A Giant’s Heart listing existed but was sold out when checked. | Whether it will be propagated for 2027, format, cultivar identity, available quantity and shipping terms. |
| Pépinière des PionniersQuébec | Small quantities and Blue Banana | The Blue Banana listing showed a 15–30 cm bare-root plant at $11. | Stock, availability date, total cost, shipping and the intended pollination partner. |
Common cultivars should not hold up the rare-cultivar search. Secure the main order, then document every special request separately.
Start with Végétolab and request written confirmation of 2027 production, format and source. A history of authorized propagation does not prove current stock.
Ask Végétolab whether the cultivar is currently produced and which name will appear on the label and invoice. Keep both names in the request.
No current Québec source was confirmed in the research. Ask authorized propagators about contract production; a plant-rights record is not proof of availability.
The Casse-Noisette listing existed but was sold out. Ask whether 2027 propagation is planned and require Giant’s Heart to appear clearly on the order, with no substitution.
Identity rule: A nursery certificate, organic claim or plant-rights entry does not by itself confirm cultivar identity or stock. Keep the full name on the quote, invoice, labels and orchard map.
Supplier pages establish what was publicly described on the verification date. They do not guarantee future inventory, delivery or cultivar authenticity. Plant breeders’ rights information explains legal protection; it does not establish that a plant is for sale.
