The haskap has long been known to the Japanese as “the fruit of the longevity of life and the fruit of sight”.

Fruits also contain high amounts of potassium and calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and other essential minerals.


Hapkaps have extremely high antioxidant value (ORAC), and in particular, they have high levels of anthocyanins, polyphenol compounds, and bioflavanoids.

Its ORAC score (an antioxidant value) is 1340,011, compared to 9500 for cranberries, a fruit known for its antioxidant properties.

Other phytochemicals present are proanthocyanidins and organic acids, including a high citric acid content.
